Missions and Revival

2018 Lenten Mission
Night 1 of 3 on Sunday, February 18, 2018 - Theme: The Covenant
Mission Presenter: Father Joseph Pearce, C.O.

Father spoke about the Covenant. First God's Covenant to us that He would not destroy the Earth again by water, represented by the rainbow, and our covenant to Him. Father said it is one covenant with 2 parts. We have the words, "Old Covenant" and "New Covenant". In the past, the word "covenant" is between equals. Obviously, a covenant between God and His people is not between equals. He also spoke of Abraham's test of faith, being asked to sacrifice his son. He relates it to the fulfilling of the Covenant through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

Night 3 of 3 on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 - Theme: Our Response to God
Mission Presenter: Father Joseph Pearce, C.O.

Father reminded us of the 1st night where God made His covenant with us, by His initiative, reaching out to His people. Last night Deacon spoke about the Cross, where Jesus came to give us life through the Cross. Tonight we speak about our response to God. God has invited us, but we have to respond. He has also given us freedom to say yes, maybe, or no. He cannot save us if we say no to His salvation.

2017 Fall Revival with Deacon Royce Winters - Theme: "Living In The Promises of God"
Night 1 of 3 on Sunday, October 15, 2017

Deacon asked if we have been through a storm, or been seriously ill. He told us that how sometimes, when we are in the midst of a storm, we want to go back to what was comfortable, even when it was not right. The Israelites wanted to go back to Egypt into slavery because they were used to that. They forgot the victory that God had given them, having delivered them from slavery. He told us how storms, by their nature, cannot be controlled. They just happened. Those are the times we can only give the situation over to God.

Night 2 of 3 on Monday, October 16, 2017

Deacon told us how no matter how broken you are, or what storm you might be going through, you only have to call upon His name, and He will be there for you. There is no limit to what the Lord can do. He is always willing. He said once you have met "The Christ", you want to share it with someone. Yet so many Catholics don't.
Music sung was "One More Time", When You Need Him", Not My Brother, Not My Sister, But Me O Lord", and "O Lord Hear My Prayer".

Deacon said that according to the Gospel reading that when we gather to pray, we have to forgive others, and predicated on our forgiveness, God forgives us. It says we wouldn't dare come to God's altar expecting a miracle when we haven't done our part to set things right. We have to go to our brother and set things right, and then we pray for something with a right heart, we will receive it.

During our Lenten Mission, Deacon James Turner spoke about the Gospel of Mark 10:46-52 about the blind begger, Bartimaeus calling out to Jesus. Jesus stops and calls him forward and asks what he wants. The begger wants to see. The Deacon told us Jesus is calling us too, and that He wants to heal us as well.
