Father told us that the line Peter proclaimed to the Jewish people in front of him that Jesus was Lord and the Christ. At that time, only Caesar would be called Lord at that time, and it would mean they would suffer greatly for claiming this. When the people heard all this, they were "cut to the heart", they believed it, and asked what they should do. Peter told them they must be baptized, and so they were.
