Father told us about the 1st reading from Amos about how those that were in power, the priests, the kings, and the religious people would come out of the temple and ignore the poor, and trample the poor. He was preaching against this, trying to get them to change their minds. The same should be true for us: we come to Mass, and it should transform us to be kind to the poor and needy.
