Deacon told us about how we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. In today's Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples how they need for vigilance for prayer as the wait for the coming of the Son of Man in His glory. Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple and the trials of the coming age. Although there will be destruction, His disciples are not to fear, and they will withstand any destruction. Jesus does not promise to protect us from anxiety or tribulation, but to pray for strength. When the people were listening to Jesus, they found the strength to withstand tribulation.
