March 4, 2018 3rd Sunday of Lent Homily by Deacon Dr. Terrence R. Chisolm Deacon told us that the totality of today's readings are that we are to celebrate Christ in the fullness and completion in the law and wisdom of God. Exodus is the foundation where the law is given to Moses. The 2nd reading is to remind us that Christ is the fullness of God's wisdom. The next layer is from the Psalm, where it says, "Lord, you have the words of everlasting life." The final layer comes from the Gospel, which comes with some heat. Here we see the side of Jesus that makes a whip out of cords, where He lashes out in anger for the profaning of the temple. Jesus was doing some "whoopin'". |
