Homily-2018-01-21

January 21, 2018 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Homily by Father Joseph Pearce, C.O.

Father told us that Jonah is one of his favorite Old Testament characters, because we can sometimes be like him. We will sometimes run from God. He didn't want to do what God wanted him to. But God hounds him until he does. Jonah was effective, and when the city repented, God forgave them. Jonah was angry about that. We want to be forgiven, but not our enemies. All people are made in the image of God, including our enemies, and all are loved by God, including our enemies.
