Deacon told us that in the Gospel, Jesus was telling us that "religion" can be more about elevating self than about what we can do for God or for neighbor. He told us about how the Pharisees would not practice what they preach. He says that we too run the risk of becoming hypocrites, just like the Pharisees. He asked, "What can cause a Christian to become a hypocrite?" He says the first thing to watch out for is our lack of integrity. The second thing is allowing others to steal our God given joy.
