October 1, 2017, Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Homily by Father Brad Smith, C.O.

Father mentioned about some of the natural disasters we have been facing recently with a number of hurricanes. He says that many ask, "How can God allow such things to happen?" However, we must remember that the cross is part of discipleship, and sometimes the cross may take the form of natural disasters, as well as many other misfortunes that may happen. Father mentioned he had visited some who had been hit by the hurricane, and he personally had lived through a category 4 hurricane previously, he knows what the devastation can look like. But the most remarkable thing he witnessed after the hurricane was meeting people who had little to start with and lost everything they had, and yet they would still praise God that they still had the breath of life.
