2020 Homilies

January 26, 2020 The Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Homily by Fr. Agustín Guzmán, C.O.

Father told us about the first reading from Isaiah, about the Syrian invasion that have caused destruction, disarray, and darkness, and Isaiah is speaking to the people who have suffered greatly from this will receive a light, and there will be clarity and a change to their lives. Matthew in the Gospel tells how this is being lived out. That Jesus is bringing out the light and bringing light into the darkness.

January 19, 2020 The 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time
Homily by Rev. Deacon Walt Hollis

Deacon told us how we don't change the message, the message changes us. Our readings tells us about God's relationship with Israel, and John the Baptist's relationship with Jesus. We also know from John the Baptist, that for Israel to accomplish God's will is to recognize that Jesus is the Son of God.
